Democrats are still suffering from Trump derangement syndrome

It wasn't so long ago that the entire Democrat establishment and biased mainstream media took the position that former President Donald Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election. That was false.

Legions of leftists conspired to mislead the American people about the veracity of Christopher Steele's dirty dossier. But it turned out to be Russian disinformation. For the past several years, scores of Democrat politicians irresponsibly advanced the baseless claim that the duly elected president of the United States was a Russian asset. That was a dangerous lie that did damage to our Democracy.

It took five years, an avalanche of false news stories, a special counsel investigation and grand juries, countless congressional investigations and untold millions in taxpayer dollars flushed down the toilet to discover that it was all a political hoax devised by Hillary Clinton and her cronies. Now, the same Democrats -- along with RINO Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger -- are asking the American people to forget all that and believe them this time.

The radical left never admits fault, never takes responsibility and never rests. And for their latest folly, unhinged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, disgraced Rep. Adam Schiff and the rest of the Trump-deranged caucus in the House have concocted an illegitimate Jan. 6 "unselect" committee to investigate the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. To paraphrase President Ronald Reagan, here they go again. It's true; the Democrats and "Never Trumpers" have decided to conduct a third impeachment witch hunt of Mr. Trump for something they already improperly impeached him for a year ago.

Six months into their illegal investigation, complete with a committee that consists of seven angry Democrats, two Trump-hating Pelosi puppets and zero actual Republicans -- the inquisitors have come up with absolutely nothing -- again. With the country facing crisis after crisis due to President Biden's policy failures, House Democrats -- and Ms. Cheney and Mr. Kinzinger -- have decided to waste millions more in taxpayer dollars, finite resources and precious time. With an inflation crisis, a border crisis, a crime crisis, a supply chain crisis and a raging COVID-19 crisis, their priorities are dangerously out of touch with reality.

The ultra-partisan Jan. 6 committee is under extreme pressure to come up with something to further their false narrative -- anything.

Ms. Cheney is so desperate to show progress, she's highlighting that her crack investigation has discovered Mr. Trump was watching television at the White House and got advice from members of the media on Jan. 6. Six months into an investigation, and this is all they have to show for it. The committee is also busy selectively leaking text messages to the liberal media that they deem politically damaging to the former president. To date, the leaked texts have been so insignificant that committee member Mr. Schiff -- the leftist quarterback of the Russia hoax -- was caught doctoring a message just to prop up their lies.

Make no mistake: This entire undertaking is just another anti-Trump circus looking to maximize damage to Republican prospects as we enter the 2022 election season. In fact, the committee has been clear that it's planning to release an interim report this summer, just before early voting starts -- wink, wink!

The reality is the Jan. 6 committee has just a few months to find something new to prove its worth. So far, they've failed to put any meat on the bone to support their phony narrative or prove that Mr. Trump did anything wrong. Issuing subpoenas and document requests to everyone and everything under the sun -- even House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy isn't progress -- it's desperation. But here are some facts that the committee can't overcome.

On Jan. 6, 2021, Mr. Trump said, "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard." Juxtapose that statement with the words of a Black Lives Matter leader in New York, who said earlier this year that "There will be riots. There will be fire, and there will be bloodshed." If the Jan. 6 committee can't see the difference, they need to find a new line of work.

Ms. Cheney likes to say that "we can either be loyal to Donald Trump or we can be loyal to the Constitution, but we cannot be both." Sadly, this poll-tested attack line sounds like the same garbage that the radical left used to lob at her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, over weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and enhanced interrogation techniques. It was nonsense then, and it's nonsense now. If Ms. Cheney were truly concerned about the Constitution, precedent or the rules of the House, she wouldn't participate in the Jan. 6 committee because it lacks valid minority representation, minority rights and checks and balances.

The Jan. 6 committee is not a reflection of the people's will and is abusing its subpoena power, deposition power and contempt power each and every day. If this committee were interested in operating in a bipartisan manner, it would issue a request to Mrs. Pelosi and her office for documents and testimony relating to the failure of security at the U.S. Capitol in the lead up to Jan. 6, 2021. Maybe then they would find something new. Ms. Cheney and Mr. Kinzinger need to realize that they can either be loyal to the effort to destroy Mr. Trump or the effort to stop the radical Biden-Pelosi agenda and win back the U.S. House, but they can't be both.
